I have always had a passion for fitness and athletics. Like any kid my age, I had spent a good part of my childhood playing many different sports and training a bit in gymnastics and ice skating, but found my favorite athletic challenge within the hip hop dance community during high school. For me, the benefits of dance were immeasurable. It made me feel more creative, more like myself, and combined two of my favorite things - music and athleticism - in a way that nothing else could. It made me realize that self-expression was incredibly important to me, and was something I wanted to completely dedicate myself to and empower others to do as well. I also began to understand that within that - body control, strength training, proper nutrition, and wellness in general were paramount in developing those skills. I also understood that without exception, fitness and wellness are crucial for everyone in order to be fully happy and healthy, and to show their best selves to the world.
After strength training and dancing and my way through college and my first finance job, I found that the times in the week that I felt happiest and the most myself was the time that I spent in the gym and the time in the dance studio. I felt a strong desire to inspire others to understand the same level of joy that I felt from being strong and fit, and decided to pursue a career in the fitness industry. After going to the National Personal Training Institute for 6 months, I decided to leave the world of finance and have been a full-time personal trainer ever since.
I am a NASM certified personal trainer, have a certification from the National Personal Training Institute, and have also worked for 2 years as a Tier 3 Personal Trainer at Equinox Fitness Clubs. I am a NASM corrective exercise specialist, certified in pre/post-natal programming, and have over 15 years of experience in core training, strength training, flexibility training, and athletics. In addition to training individual clients, I also teach group fitness classes, strength training for dancers, youth groups, and have created and instructed corporate wellness programs for several companies. I am continuously taking fitness and dance classes on my own, training with others, and spending time in the gym experimenting on my own to create even better programs for my clients. My style of training focuses on internal awareness, proper technique, and moving with strength within those parameters. I believe that any fitness goal - whether it be shredding fat, building lean muscle, or increasing athleticism- can be achieved through building a strong core foundation and making purposeful and efficient movement a habit.
